Sex Therapy Center
There are a variety of different causes of sexual pain, but the one constant feature is they cause a terrible cycle of pain and suffering in relationships of those who are affected. While the particular treatment depends on the source or type of pain, counseling for the individual and the relationship can provide tremendous help. Often, once the pain cycle starts, people attempt to force through the pain and endure for their partner. This, like running on a broken foot, amplifies the pain, makes it worse, and leads to emotional distress for everyone involved. Stopping the cycle of exacerbation is vital to moving forward.
Eros Health Center works in collaboration with doctors, pelvic floor physical therapists, and other providers as needed to create a supportive medical team to work on the physiological aspect. Our job, is to support the client and the couple through the process of treating the underlying condition, and what that means for them. No matter what the cause, there are lots of ways to have a happy, healthy, and connected pain free sex life. We work with clients to figure out what they want out of their sex life, what is important to them, and how they can work together to have that. Additionally, we help individuals and couples work through the possible feelings of sadness, shame, rejection, fear, anxiety, and aversion that so often comes with a sexual pain problem. We help build the skills to have those conversations, and foster compassion as well as empathy to allow clients to improve their lives in the ways they want to.
